DREAMS   Leave a comment

dream symbols.comThe ticking time bomb- Graduate unemployment is a blight that has disfigured the youth in this country of ours.
Government, the number ‘institution’ that has principally been blamed for inventing the state of the art flop is also lost when it comes to solutions.
Politicians promise millions of jobs that never manifest.
Today, I reached another stage of my gargantuan life.
As a graduate from the kwame Nkrumah University of science and technology, I remember how I was in a rush to complete school- because school was terrible for me.
Then when I was about to complete school, I didn’t want to complete.
I ‘was’ afraid to step out on my own.
Afraid I might not see my dreams manifest.
Hold it! Do you remember when you were little and everything seemed possible.
But all these dreams were crashed while growing up.
A truck full of problems to think about, the chew and pour educational system that flushes out everything ingenious, methods a millennium old that has not known any major updating etc.
But today as I start my business, I first have GOD to thank. Without him I would not be here.
And then my mum miss mara rosina tettey, aunty laurencia tettey, my big brother and the best in the world –jeff asare and all my friends who encouraged me to go for the dream.
There are a thousand castles I’ve built with my imaginative mind that have been stifled by my own generation.
They always think the ‘idea’ is beautiful but not realistic.
This business ……let me check….. is my 100,000th God given idea that I decided not to discuss with anything myopic.
A rental service whose aim is to make any occasion memorable.
Yes it started today the 30th of august, 2012.
I am happy to I made it this far but believe you me, it was simple and less tedious.
This is not because I was born into a rich family; even though my family was rich we lost everything.
I grew up like every other child in the rural area.
But I have for all time deemed self employment as the best achievement.
Whether it’s a kiosk or container – you still remain the owner.
My advice to my fellow graduates out there is this: though the government might not be up to the task of creating jobs for us, they are not solely responsible for what happens to us.
Use the petite resources you have, to create something with this wonderful tool (mind) God has given you.
At this point I would like to say a big thank you to atta kusi adusei, Benjamin offor, linda agyemang, and every other person who accepted my pied crazy personality and believed in me.
I am stronger and confident now.
To all the young ones out there, don’t allow prejudiced minds to stop you from becoming great.
Self employment is the ultimate.
Now if you need some chairs, tables and canopies to rent, do not hesitate to let me know.
We promise to make any event unforgettable.

THE MAN OF MY DREAMS   Leave a comment

fanpop.com

There is one man I love so much.

I knew him a long time ago but  now I know him better.

About ten to fifteen years ago, when the effect of my parents’ separation was truly telling, I met him.

I had not totally ruined my life, was on my way.

I had too many questions but fewer answers and was almost growing nuts.

Being the person that I am, I would always show the strong side and hide the pains.

Always want to put a smile other peoples’ faces but never mine.

I felt I was being cheated but couldn’t voice it.

A heap of problems, waiting to be shoveled away.

I thought a boyfriend will do.

This man I so love now, he was busy sizing me up then.

I had discerned it but I was not perturbed.

To my uttermost surprise, he will just not give up.

He waited, waited for that moment when I will show interest.

I tried, I considered, but my mind was still not made up.

More discouraging was the fact that people said he was boring.

I knew he had answers I needed but I didn’t want to be drawn to his ‘boring nature’.

About five years ago when I was older and thinking right, I accepted him.

He’s a dream come true.

He’s caring, loving, understanding and thoughtful.

He sweeps me off my feet and gives me what I want, I only need to ask.

People lied; he’s exciting to be with.

He puts a smile on my face when I am so down.

He gives me hope and makes me appreciate life the better.

His name is Jesus….. Who were you thinking about?

‘This same Jesus’ is calling out to all those who have gone through similar situations to just trust him.

Why don’t give him that opportunity.

Just try it!

If it doesn’t work blame me.

TEACHER ‘BANZA’   Leave a comment

This might sound like an exaggeration but believe me, it’s the truth.

Have you ever met somebody who puts you on your toes?

I have.

I do not even trust Microsoft auto correct like I trust the corrections Of this friend.(hahahahaha exaggeration)

Please let me deviate………

Here I am in a friend’s room reading a few blogs.

So I am not weird for not going out with them because I was not feeling well.

But I am happy I didn’t.

They went out for a few drinks…. The usual Saturday night special.

There’s one chap who will just not keep quiet… I do not want to know his name.

From his drunken speech I get to know he’s a teacher.

He rattles about how as a teacher he will cane the students for asking him too many questions.

I loathe the part where he says he repeats others for being too inquisitive.

I can imagine the way the students pretend to understand everything he teaches them.

It’s really distressing and I feel like strangling this ‘horse’.

So what has education turned into?

Anyways, I had very good teachers   so they are all not the same but the bad nuts are more.

Will tell you later about my friend who cherishes education so much.

For his sake I will not continue lest I ruined the moment.

Pre marital or medical?

Premarital Sex

Pic source: Indian Times

After speaking to a senior colleague of mine at work, several thoughts flooded my mind. We were discussing issues related to pre- marital sex and he had very interesting things to share.

Being the church girl that I am, I would want to start from the bible’s perspective on pre- marital sex. The book of Corinthians clearly states what is expected of the Christian. This is how the message Bible translation puts it (1 Corinthians 6:18-20):

16-20 There’s more to sex than mere skin on skin.

Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact.

As written in Scripture, “The two become one“.

“Since we want to become spiritually one with the Master, we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment and intimacy, leaving us lonelier than ever—the kind of sex that can never “become one.

“There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others.

In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for “becoming one” with another.

Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please; squandering what God paid such a high price for?

The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body.

So the Bible is definitely against premarital sex.

Well I do not know how other religions see this topic but I am sure they have their own views.

Having lived in the village for about 6 or so years, I can well assure you, the traditional perspective is rigid and uncompromising. But modernity has a slick way of changing traditional rules. The youth today will go any mile to defend their rights and damn traditional principles.

Or…

I might be wrong but it’s still my opinion.

Now let’s get back to my discussions with a senior colleague.

He recounted an incident where after two months of marriage, a couple was on its way to court to get a divorce. This was because the lady was sex phobia and would sometimes turn violent when her husband by law will want to have what was rightfully his.

Due to this ‘experience’ my colleague vowed never to marry a woman he had never slept with. Hmmmmmm, he’s married now… hmmmmm (you can imagine what I want to say).

I am sure there are many ways of treating sex phobia. With the recent increase in child abuse and rape cases in Ghana, I assume there are many women who want nothing to do with sex.

But should this be a major reason for us to ignore traditional and moral value?. Women are in trouble.

Its either we compromise or we stay single. Eish… Ghana.

It has me thinking a lot.

Morals vs medical?

There are cases where I hear the remedy for abdominal pains is sex. What a medical excuse…

Unfriendly State House   Leave a comment

State HouseAccording to unofficial records, Ghana has approximately 3 million individuals with disabilities out of a population of about 25 million.

The state house built in the 1960’s to house the members of the then organization of African union members now houses the remains of the late president professor Evans atta mills.

The disabled might as well pardon the construction firm at the time for not having hindsight of what was to come. But can they pardon the funeral committee for not having them in mind?

So what will it take the 2 million or more disabled persons living in Ghana to pay their last respect to the late president?

Surely, they can all not enjoy CPP’s Ivor Greenstreet’s majestic flyover ably assisted by some security personnel at the state house. But did  he as an individual enjoy the act?

Maybe the funeral committee should keep this in mind the next time, if there ever will be one, and Ghana as a whole should be standing up for the disabled in the country.

The last time I checked, they were still Ghanaians.
